このフレーズはよく、結婚して子供がいる私のような人たちに使われます。

先週、私は自由になり、大阪・京都・奈良を少し旅をし、とても楽しい時間を過ごしました。
以前ケンジントン英会話で受付係をしてくれていたリナさんに会い、彼女が連れて行ってくれた小さな「大阪グルメツアー」を楽しみました。
嵐山にも初めて行きましたが、みんなが口を揃えて言うほど綺麗なところでした。
奈良も素晴らしく、特に東大寺と大仏は、まだ行ったことがなければ一見の価値があります。
旅の間にしたことはすべて素晴らしかったですが、正直なところ、自由に自分の見ること、すること、食べること、行くところを選び、自分のペースで動くのがただただ良かったです。
そうは言っても、子供たちから離れているのは少し変な感覚がありました。
子供たちがいつも周りにいることにとても慣れているようです。
次にいつ再び自由になれるかわかりませんが、遅いよりも早い方がいいな。

Off the leash
Hi there everyone!
I’d like to give you a nice English phrase that I’m sure all you married boys and girls will appreciate.
“Off the leash”
This means to be allowed time to yourself to do as you please. It usually applies to people like me who are married with kids.
I was allowed some time off the leash last week and took a short trip through to Osaka, Kyoto, and Nara and I had a really nice time. I met up with Rina San, one of our former receptionists and she took me on a little gourmet tour of Osaka. I also went to Arashiyama for the first time and it was just as beautiful as everyone says it is. Nara was amazing too, in particular the Todai Temple and Big Bhudda there are well worth a look if you haven’t been for.
All of this was great, but to be honest it was just nice to be off the leash for once and choose my own places to go, things to see, do, and eat, and generally move at my own pace. That being said I did feel a bit strange being away from the kids. I’m so used to them being around all the time.
I’m not sure when I’ll next be let off the leash again, but I hope it’s sooner rather than later.
