みなさん、明けましておめでとうございます！

良いクリスマスと新年を過ごされたでしょうか。

私はいつものように、ほとんどの人がそうだと思いますが、今年は別のことをしたいと思っています。

これは、この時期によく使う素晴らしい表現です。

 「turn over a new leaf」

このフレーズは、自分のやり方を変えて、自分自身や他の人に有害であると考えられることをやめることを意味します。

例
I saw Jaimie the other day. He’s so slim and looks so fresh.
(先日、ジェイミーに会いました。彼はとてもスリムでとても元気そうです。)

Yes, I know. Apparently he’s turned over a new leaf and completely stopped drinking!
(そうですね。どうやら彼は心機一転し、完全にお酒を飲むのをやめたらしい！)

Happy new year!

A very happy new year to all of you! I hope you had a great Christmas and new year. As always at the beginning of the year I feel like I want to do something differently this year as I’m sure most of you do to! 

Here is a great expression that we often use at this time of year. “turn over a new leaf” means to change your ways and stop doing something which is considered harmful to yourself or others. 

Example

“I saw Jaimie the other day. He’s so slim and looks so fresh”

“Yes, I know. Apparently he’s turned over a new leaf and completely stopped drinking!”
