Stamina-tei (Kiyokawa)

Hello everyone and welcome back after the winter break!
Continuing my foodies series today, I’ll be taking you on a journey to the far flung reaches of Kiyokawa wherein lies the legendary bbq restaurant “Stamina Tei”
This is my go to spot when I want to reward myself or my kids with a good feast since it’s not too pricey, very consistent with quality, and most of all, and this is quite unusual for these kind of restaurants in my experience in Japan at least, is very comfortable and not too smokey.
It’s a bit of a trek from my place in Nishijin as it’s located in Kiyokawa but I think it’s worth the journey. If you do want to go there it’s best to book because it is really popular at the weekends and without a reservation waiting times can be lengthy. That being said, it’s pretty spacious and if you’re lucky it’ll clear out quickly. It’s also open all day and well into the night at the weekends so you can avoid peak times.
Food wise, like I mentioned earlier. It’s nothing fancy. Just your usual fare when it comes to “yakiniku” but the quality is always consistent, the service is speedy, and since I’ve been going with friends, family, and even visitors from overseas, the staff remember me and are very welcoming. Highlights on the menu for me are the kalbi, and spicy miso pork, I also really like their selection of kimchi but the real start of the show for me is the super spicy tail kuppa! I really want to hog it all to myself and my kids have a real struggle to get me to share. Oh, one more thing, They serve icy cold beer in litres which is very much my cup of tea!
So, if you feel like you’ve been working hard and deserve to give yourself a hearty feast, I’d say you won’t be disappointed by Stamina Tei.

ここは、自分自身や子供達にご褒美として豪華な食事をさせたいときの定番スポット（go to spot）です。
価格が高すぎず、品質が非常に安定していて（consistent with quality）、何よりも、少なくとも日本でのこの種のレストランでの私の経験では非常に珍しいことですが、煙たくなく、とても快適なのです。
西新の私の家からは少し距離があります（a bit of a trek）が、行く価値はある（worth the journey）と思います。
もし行きたい場合は予約するのがベストです。週末は本当に人気があり、予約なしだと待ち時間が長くなることがあります。とはいえ、かなり広々としているので、運が良ければすぐに空きます。また、週末は一日中、夜遅くまで営業しているので、ピーク時を避けることもできます。
食べものに関しては、先ほど述べたように、特別なものではありません。「焼肉」はありふれたメニュー（usual fare）ですが、品質は常に安定しており、サービスは迅速で、友人、家族、さらには海外からの訪問者と一緒によく行っているので、スタッフの皆さんは私を覚えてくれて、いつもとても歓迎してくれます。
個人的なハイライトメニューは「カルビ」と「豚バラ」のタレです。キムチの品揃えも好きですが、私にとって本当のスター（the real star of the show）は「テールクッパ」です！全部独り占め（hog it all to myself）したいくらいで、子供たちも私から一口もらうのにいつも本当に苦労（real struggle）しています。
あともうひとつ。リッターで氷のように冷えたビールを提供してくれます！これはまさに私好み（my cup of tea）です！
一生懸命働いて、心のこもったご馳走で自分にご褒美をあげたいと思ったときは、ぜひスタミナ亭へ！きっとがっかりさせることはないでしょう！
